Decoupage is an art form that involves decorating objects by gluing coloured paper cut outs onto them in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf, and other decorative elements. This course is designed to introduce you to the therapeutic benefits of decoupage as a tool for enhancing wellbeing and promoting mental health.

Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements, this course is for complete beginners. People with a limited amount of knowledge on the subject may join this course to refresh their knowledge.

Course Aims
Introduce the basics of decoupage techniques. Explore the therapeutic benefits of engaging in creative activities. Provide a supportive environment for self-expression and relaxation. Foster a sense of achievement and pride through the creation of personalised decoupage projects. Equip yourself with skills you can continue to use beyond the course to support your mental health.

How will the course be delivered?
This is a practical course and the sessions will include tutor-led demonstrations, learner-led group activities, instruction and repetition. These will form part of the delivery together with one-to-one support as required.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
We would suggest allowing 1-2 hours per week outside of class time to develop your skills.

How will I know I'm making progress?
During the first session, your tutor will discuss your goals and current level in relation to the course. Based on this assessment, you will agree individual targets which you will record in your individual learning plan (ILP). You and your tutor will review your targets regularly to ensure that you are making progress; these will be written in your individual learning plan.

What will I need for the course?
Please bring a pen and notepad.
