Description

Have you already studied the art of painting using watercolour and want to learn more? This is the course for you! The mixed ability course allows learners to progress at their own speed, our tutor will set projects which will be adjusted for each learner individually depending on their skills to allow for deeper learning and to develop skills according to ability. All levels welcome just bring a willingness to learn and have fun!  

Who is this course for?
Learners who are over 19 years of age, and possess a keen interest in learning water colours. This is a course aimed at people with some experience of painting with watercolour, or for those wishing to re-ignite a love of painting! We will use a variety of techniques and stimuli to create a series of projects during the course. These will be guided, thus encouraging you to develop a way of working to develop good techniques and new skills. Suitable for everyone who wants a learn a little more.

Entry Requirements
This course is aimed at individuals who have some experience in painting using water colour. Our tutor will differentiate the projects according to the capability of the learners so all abilities welcome.

Course aims
You will guided and supported to create an abstract watercolour painting. You will learn how to mix colour and apply it using a range of tools and techniques. We will explore how to make marks to create your very own unique artwork using watercolour paint.

How will the course be delivered?
This is a practical course, and the sessions will include tutor-led demonstrations, learner-led group activities, instruction and repetition. These will form part of the delivery together with one-to-one support as required.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
Art takes practise! You will be encouraged to review your notes between lessons to ensure maximum benefit from your course. It is always useful to practise your skills between sessions. Your tutor may encourage home learning, or independent research.

How will I know I’m making progress?
At the beginning of the course, your tutor will set the course Aims. Each session you will have objectives set relevant to the project you will work on that week, the course is sequenced to show progression in the new skills you are developing which will be showcased within each item you make. Your tutor will recap aims and objectives each week and provide verbal and written feedback on your individual learning plans.

What will I need for the course?
If you have your own materials - bring them along. If not, we can provide an excellent starter set for £30. Book it when you book the course. If you wish to buy one, please call our learning services team to place an order. Please bring a notepad, and pen to each session. You may wish to bring a file for any handouts. A laptop with internet access is required for completion of coursework and home learning outside of the classroom. Please note that food and drink are not permitted to be consumed in the classroom. You may bring a bottle of water with a lid with you if required.
