Who is this course for?
This qualification is for learners wishing to qualify for the CSCS UK Ltd Green Card to access construction sites in the UK as a non-skilled worker.

You will be invited to undertake an initial assessment to ascertain your levels of English and maths prior to entry on this course of study. Please be aware that OCSW does not award a CSCS green card but gives you the knowledge required to apply for one.

Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however experience in construction may be desirable.

Course aims
The qualification covers the health and safety knowledge that is required to gain a CSCS Green Card for access to construction sites in the UK. The learning aims are: 1. Know the principles of risk assessment for maintaining and improving health and safety at work 2. Know the importance of safe manual handling in the workplace 3. Know the importance of working safely at height in the workplace 4. Know risks to health within a construction environment 5. Know the importance of working around plant and equipment safe

Qualification
Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (6072), City and Guilds Level 1 Award.

How will the course be delivered?
This is a mainly theory course with some practical aspects.

How will I know I'm making progress?
You will be continually assessed and supported with informative developmental feedback throughout the length of the course. You will recieve verbal and written feedback through your ILP.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
Formal homework will be set on a regular basis incorporating research using recommended websites and practice examination papers and activities. Feedback will be given on homework set. There is a considerable amount of work for you to do in your own time for this qualification. Please allow a minimum of two hours per week for this.

What will I need to take to the course?
You will find it useful to bring a pen/pencil and notebook with you to your session. Please note that food and drink are not allowed during the session, although you may bring a bottle of water with you if required.
