Description

Mosaics, the art of creating images with small pieces of coloured glass, stone, or other materials, offer a therapeutic and meditative experience. This course is designed to introduce you to the calming and creative process of mosaic-making as a means of promoting wellbeing and supporting mental health.

Entry requirements
There are no entry requirements, this course is for complete beginners. People with a limited amount of knowledge on the subject may join this course to refresh their knowledge.

Course Aims
Introduce you to the fundamentals of mosaic art. Explore the therapeutic benefits of engaging in a tactile and creative activity. Provide a supportive environment for self-expression and relaxation. Foster a sense of accomplishment and empowerment through the creation of mosaic artworks. Equip you with skills they can continue to use beyond the course to support their mental health.

How will the course be delivered?
This is a practical course and the sessions will include tutor-led demonstrations, learner-led group activities, instruction and repetition. These will form part of the delivery together with one-to-one support as required.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
We would suggest allowing 1-2 hours per week outside of class time to develop your skills.

How will I know I'm making progress?
During the first session, your tutor will discuss your goals and current level in relation to the course. Based on this assessment, you will agree individual targets which you will record in your individual learning plan (ILP). You and your tutor will review your targets regularly to ensure that you are making progress; these will be written in your individual learning plan.

What will I need for the course?
Please bring a pen and notepad.
