Description

We will explore their composition and how this polymer can be mixed, extended, enhanced and glazed to give a wealth of effects and techniques. Students will play with painting without brushes, creating texture and collage materials. This is an opportunity to develop your style, drawing and painting skills, as well as getting to know the colour wheel and explore the art of mixing of colour. This course is for all those wanted to paint, play, create, without judgement, a perfect opportunity to embrace your creative side in a safe space.

There are no entry requirements, this course is for complete beginners. People with a limited amount of knowledge on the subject may join this course to refresh their knowledge.

Course aims
To build confidence and ability when using acrylic paints, either on their own or in conjunction with other processes, such as collage. This course will give you knowledge of mediums, varnishes, glazes and extenders - allowing you endless ways to paint/create with joy and ability.

How will the course be delivered?
This is a practical course and the sessions will include tutor-led demonstrations, learner-led group activities, instruction and repetition. These will form part of the delivery together with one-to-one support as required.

Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
It is always useful to practise your skills between sessions. But there is no formal requirement to do so.

How will I know I'm making progress?
During the first session, your tutor will discuss your goals and current level in relation to the course. Based on this assessment, you will agree individual targets which you will record in your individual learning plan (ILP). You and your tutor will review your targets regularly to ensure that you are making progress; these will be written in your individual learning plan.

What will I need for the course?
Please bring a notepad, and pen to each session. You may wish to bring a file for any handouts. A digital device with internet access is required for completion of coursework and home learning outside of the classroom.

Progression
This course will lead you onto the Improvers in Acrylics , which aims to take your skills to the next level, building your confidence and knowledge in the process.
