Learners may find it useful if they have already achieved a Level 1 Digital Skills or Information Technology related qualification as confidence with using a computer is expected.

Qualification
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Coding.
To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully complete 5 mandatory units
*Unit 01 Understand the principles of coding;
*Unit 02 Understand terminology used in coding;
*Unit 03 Understand coding design principles;
*Unit 04 Understand the processes and practice of coding;
*Unit 05 Understand the importance of communication and project management in coding.
Internally assessed and externally quality assured portfolio of evidence.
How will the course be delivered?
This course will be a blended delivery with some in class activities each week and independent study required to build the portfolio of evidence. Access to a computer or laptop at home is essential.
Will I need to study or practise outside the classroom?
You will be expected to review your notes between lessons to ensure maximum benefit from your course. There will be 4 hours of independent study to be completed each week.
How will I know I'm making progress?
Your tutor will set course targets on a weekly basis as part of an individual learning plan (ILP) and you will review your progress throughout the course to check your progress.
What will I need for the course?
Please bring a notepad and pen, and a laptop with internet access.
Progression
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:
Level 3 Certificate in Coding Practices;
Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in IT User Skills;
Level 3 Certificate in Programming.
